Based on Article 8 of the educational regulations of the Doctor of General Dentistry course approved by the 68th session of the Supreme Planning Council of Medical Sciences, the students of Doctor of General Dentistry are required to participate in the “Clinical Qualification Test of Doctor of Dentistry”. This exam used to be called “Comprehensive Dentistry Exam”, but based on the approval of the 78th meeting of the Supreme Council of Medical Sciences Planning, it was renamed to Dentistry Clinical Competency Exam.

Among the most important provisions of the regulations for the dental clinical qualification exam, the following can be mentioned:

🔹 After completing 180 units, students are required to participate in the exam until the end of the academic year (within the number of academic years) and pass it successfully.
🔹 Passing all the courses, defending the thesis and passing the exam is the condition of the student’s graduation.
🔹 Foreign students whose documents have been evaluated and approved by the Ministry of Health’s Education Vice-Chancellor are subject to this regulation just like domestic students and are required to participate in this exam.
🔹 Students who do not succeed in passing the exam within the limit of academic years, can change their major to another major in lower grades according to the relevant instructions.
🔹Eligible students are allowed to participate in the exam multiple times (within the limit of academic years).
🔹The exam will be held in two stages, written and oral. The written test consists of 60 four-choice questions and has no negative marks. The condition for entering the oral skill test is to pass the written test with at least 70% of the test score.
The evaluation of oral skill tests in each of the educational groups of dental sciences is independent and according to the executive guidelines, it is accepted or rejected in each educational group.
🔹 If a student fails to pass the exam in one or more educational groups, she is required to participate in the exam of the same group or groups in the next courses until she gets a passing grade.
The exam is held independently in dental schools.
🔹The executive procedure of the exam, including the determination of executive and supervisory factors, the manner of holding, organizing centers, time, resources and the announcement of the results of the exam, will be compiled by the secretariat of the Council of Dental and Specialized Education and communicated to the universities of medical sciences.
🔹 This regulation is mandatory for the students of the general dental doctorate course entering the academic year 2017-2018 and thus it will be implemented in 1402.
